How to choose the perfect upgrades for your classic car with Retroelectric

Porsche 911 after Retorelectric restoration

Whether your classic is looking a little worse for wear or you want to bring back a bit of that vintage glamour – there’s a lot to consider before you start the restoration.

From paintwork to the finer interior details, we’ll explain your options and give you a peek at some of our most recent projects at Retroelectric.

Mechanical Upgrades

If your classic is already ticking along nicely, you might not need to do anything with the mechanics. However, it’s always worth checking that there aren’t any hidden gremlins before we start on the bodywork and interior.

Even if no problems are found, there are some aspects you might want us to tweak or upgrade that will give you an enhanced driving experience. For instance, a subtle braking or suspension enhancement. In the long-term, upgrading the mechanical elements as well as keeping up with general maintenance will ensure it keeps running smoothly for longer.

For small and large upgrades alike, we’ll carefully inspect and restore each part so it’s operating at peak performance.

Bodywork Upgrades and Respraying

Our recent Porsche 911 after new paintwork

Lots of the classics that come into our workshop have seen better days - over time scratches and the odd ding are inevitable. It might not look too bad from a distance, but up close they can become incredibly noticeable.

Let’s not forget, a big part of that charm of a classic is its looks, so want to keep them in tip-top condition. Our restoration service covers anything from panel repair to full-body makeovers and is carried out to the highest standard.

Even if you’re lucky not to have any scrapes or flakes, a fresh respray can still. give your car that extra bit of flare or take it back to its glory days. Whether you want a subtle tone or a bright bubble-gum pink – we can offer pretty much any colour!

The Interior

Now this is where you can go all-out luxury, there might be some aspects here you haven’t even thought about. . .

Let’s start with upholstery. Over the years, it can often become worn and faded so replacing it can really lift the feel of the entire car. All your interior choices are completely customisable from the colours to the materials you choose. We offer a whole range of materials, including vegan or premium leather options, which are created with exquisite craftsmanship.

If you’re replacing the seating upholstery then it’s certainly worth replacing the carpets too. We offer bespoke premium carpets that are custom-made specifically to your car. And something you may not have considered. . .

As glorious as they are to drive, a classic can be a little bit noisy at times, so for an extra touch of comfort, we can install sound-deadening insulation while we’re replacing the carpets.

Finally – the headliners, panels, and door cards. Matching these to your seating can give that extra special touch of luxury, especially when you’ve opted for leather seating. Again, these options are completely customisable to your requirements.
